Gillingham & DAA fourth winter league, River Stour (Deepwater & Rectory straight) 17.01.24 (14pegs)

14 hardy souls fished the 4th winter championship match on the River Stour split between Deepwater above Highbridge Mill and Rectory Straight at Stour provost and it was a miracle that the match went ahead after the river being in the fields on Thursday!

Despite this the river fished alright for Roach at Rectory straight with a lot of anglers catching small Roach on the float.

The top 2 though came from Deepwater, and Adie West, in a fitting tribute to his father, Tony West who sadly passed away last week, fished from his dad's seatbox and charmed two Chub and a Roach on the bread feeder to weigh a creditable 6-10 with the biggest Chub being over 4lb!

Runner up was Jason Twining who drew peg 6 at Deepwater and caught a 2-7 Perch and a Chub to weigh 5-15.

Third was Jack Stamp who drew Rectory 9 and arguably had the best days fishing out of all the competitors, catching 3-10 of small Roach on the crowquill and maggots.

4th: Neil Kerley- 2-08

5th: Petye Edwards- 2-01
