Gillingham AA Committee match on River Stour at Deepwater, 06.03.22 (9 pegs)
The annual committee match took place on a coloured river affected by a nasty north easterly wind which made fishing tricky for the competitors and match secretary Dave Sealey would rather have fished it on the more chubby stretches downstream.
In the event it was a battle between Wessex Water employees Richard Cake & Simon Hebditch who drew next to each other on pegs 1 & 2 at Deepwater above Highbridge Mill and it was leakage tech Richard who got the verdict.
Richard caught 4 Chub to 3lb, a Roach and a Dace in the first two hours on the stick float and maggots and hardly had a bite afterwards to weigh 11-5 and take the trophy.
Leakage Inspector Simon, had a torrid first 2 and a half hours catching a couple of small Dace and a gudgeon, before 3 Chub graced the net in a manic 20 minutes mid match, 1 on the pole and two on the topper, and all on double maggot, to weigh 9-03 and take second place.

Gillingham AA Pairs match. River Stour from Trill Bridge to Catholics, 06.02.22 (14 pegs)
Turnout on this match was down on recent weeks mainly due to several covid cases and although the weather was foul and the river rising a foot during the match there were still loads of fish caught, although float fishing was virtually impossible!
Winner on the day was Richard Cake who drew peg 40, the Willows, at Trill and caught 8 Chub on the maggot feeder and worms and maggots to weigh 16-08.
Runner up went to match secretary, Dave Sealey, who drew peg 49 at Catholics and winkled out 6 Chub on maggot feeder and bread feeder to weigh 12-07, rueing 5 that he lost in a snag.

6th: Rob Manns- 8-09.
This meant that Richard Cake & James Kiernan won the pairs with 4 points from Rob Manns & Dave Sealey on 5 points, and Jack Stamp & Danny NcCoy and Kev Harvey & Adie West were equal 3rd on 7 points.
Gillingham AA 6th Winter Championship. River Stour - Trill Bridge to Catholics, 24.01.22 (18 pegs)
The final match in this popular series was fished on a reasonably good looking river but bites were always going to be a premium after some sub zero temperatures in the week.
Despite this there were a few double figure bags of fish with mainly Chub featuring in the weights.
Winner on the day was Adie West who drew peg 61 at Fifehead Hill and caught 10 Chub on the lead and bread to weigh 23-00.
Runner up was Jason Mills who was blanking for 2.5 hours before catching 8 Chub on the maggot feeder for 17-05 from peg 56, dead man's hole.

Gillingham AA 5th Winter Championship. River Stour - Deepwater to Highbridge, 03.01.22 (20 pegs)
The 5th round of the winter championship was held on a highly coloured and pacy river but luckily the match organiser put it on the slower stretches of the river.
Winner on the day, from Deepwater 10, was Jack Stamp who caught 5lb of Roach on the topper float and maggots before adding two Perch on the worm feeder to weigh 10-07.
Runner Up was Rob Manns who drew peg 15 at Highbridge and caught some big Roach on the bolo before going on the pole and adding 4 decent Perch to 2lb to weigh 10-00.

Gillingham AA Christmas match on River Stour - Highbridge to Catholics, 19.12.21 (20 pegs)
The annual Christmas match was fished on a clearing river Stour and Catholics was the place to be with 5 of the top 6 weights coming from there.
Winner on the day was Jack Stamp, who put a poor run of form on the river to bed, with an outstanding weight of 26-04.
Jack drew un-fancied peg 49 at Catholics and caught 7 Chub to 3lb and about 10lb of big Dace on the stick float and maggot to win some cash and a Hamper.
Runner Up was Dave Anders who drew peg 61 on the concrete road and caught 11 Chub and 5 chublets on the bread feeder to weigh 22-00 and win some cash and a hamper.
Third place went to Richard Fripp who drew peg 51 and caught lots of Chublets on maggots before adding some bigger samples on sweetcorn to weigh 16-10 and win a hamper and some cash.

The river had fined down to almost a perfect level and most of the anglers caught over 6lb of fish with Roach to 1-9, Bream to 4lb and Perch to 2-8 caught on the match.
Winner on the day, and taking the new river match record, was Jason Mills. Jason drew Billings Hole at Deepwater and fed worms and casters on the pole at 11m and caught 4 Perch to 2-8 on worms, 6 bream to 4lb, a Hybrid and lots of Roach on maggots and casters to weigh an incredible 38-00.
Runner Up was in form chairman, Pete Edwards who drew peg 18 at Highbridge and caught 14-07 of mostly Roach to 1-9 on the stick, and maggots and casters.

The third winter championship was fished on a very low and clear river and competitors feared the worst.
In the event the river fished better than expected with match secretary Dave Sealey taking the win with an impressive bag of 13-15 from peg 50, the swimming pool.
Dave caught Roach, Dace & chublets on maggots over hemp on the stickfloat before adding some small chub on punch on the breadfeeder.
Runner Up was Adie West who drew 51 and caught 4 Chub & some bits on the straight lead and bread to weigh 11-04.

The second winter match was fished on a clear river which still had enough flow to get the fish to feed.
Winner on the day was Kev Harvey who drew peg 59 at the bottom of Catholics and caught 7 Chub on the stick float and on the lead with sweetcorn & lobworm hookbaits to weigh an impressive 17-04.
Runner Up was Richard Fripp who drew on peg 60 and caught 14-09 of Chub, Roach & Dace on the stick float and punched bread feeding balls of liquidised.

The first winter series was fished in clement conditions, more reminiscent of a summer's day than winter with the river carrying a tinge of colour and masses of small fish wanting to feed.
Winner on the day was Pete Edwards with 16lb 13oz from 57 at Catholics on the stick catching Dace, Chublets and Roach on maggots and casters.
Runner up was Pete Leach 15lb 7oz who caught mainly Chub to 2lb on bread and sweetcorn from peg 59 on the feeder.
3rd - Richard Fripp 14lb 12oz from peg 17 consisting of 3 Bream and 3 Perch and some bits on the pole and chopped worm and the waggler and maggots.
4th - Jason Mills 10lb 12oz
5th - James Kiernan 10lb
6th - Jack Stamp 9lb 3oz.
Jim Debnam Memorial match. Lodden Lakes. (18 pegs) 18.07.21.
This annual memorial match for one of Lodden Lakes founder members Jim Debnam, drew 18 hardy souls braving the scorching mid 30's temperatures and surprisingly the vast shoals of Bream were obliging to the participants.
Winner on the day was Jason Mills who drew un-fancied peg 29 and caught 3 Carp on the method feeder and corn/wafters, and plenty of Bream to 4lb on the pole and worms to weigh an impressive 45-12.
Runner up was Ray Webster who drew peg 23 and caught 3 Tench to 4lb, some Crucians and loads of Bream and skimmers on corn over pellet in the margin at 6 metres to weigh 41-02.

22 hardy souls fished this match at this prolific venue and weighed in on average 131lb a man. Luckily the rain stayed off and the fish were obliging with mainly Carp being caught. Winner on the day was Jack Stamp who drew peg 38 and caught on top 3 of his pole all day on maggots and pellets to weigh an impressive 329-06. Runner up was Jason Mills who drew peg 41 and started on the method and pellets for a few fish before switching to the short pole in the margins fishing groundbait and meat to weigh 257-04.

Gillingham AA 1st Summer Championship at Lodden lakes. (27 pegs)
The first round of this popular summer series kicked off in style on the Dave Hillier lake at Loddon with 27 hopefuls trying to catch some of the vast but sometimes un-catchable shoals of Bream and skimmers in bright, hot and unforgiving conditiions!.
Winner on the day from un-fancied peg 21 was Steve Trevett who caught hybrids, skimmers and Roach well short in the first 2 hours on casters before going on his long line and catching Bream to 3lb and eventually weighing an impressive 60-00 on worms..
Runner Up was Bob Gullick who caught skimmers and Bream alternating between 11-14.5m on the pole with worms on the hook over groundbait to weigh 37-08 from weedy peg 14.
