Dave Hillier memorial upper Stour Open. River Stour from Deepwater to Rectory Straight. (20 pegs)
This annual match held in remembrance of ex match secretary, Dave Hillier, went ahead on a good looking river.
The fish were willing to feed but unfortunately the wind made presentation very difficult.
Winning this match for the first time was Dave’s former business partner, Ben Dukes (Garbolino Blackmore Vale), who asked Simon Hebditch to draw for him and was given unfancied peg 7 on Rectory Straight.
Ben caught 2 Chub and some Roach and Dace on the pole and double caster over groundbait and later on added 2 eels and a Perch on the feeder and lobbie tail to end up with 10-9.
Runner up was James Kiernan (Gillingham AA), who borrowed his boys fishing tackle and drew Highbridge Millpool. James started on the maggot feeder, catching a Perch and some Roach, before going on the 4 metre whip, which he had been feeding with maggots, and added another 2 Perch and some decent Roach to weigh 8-14.

The final round of the winter championship took place on a clearing river which still had a lot of pace.
Winner on the day was Pete Edwards, who drew inform peg 17 at Highbridge and caught 3 Bream and some perch and Roach on chopped worms and maggots on the pole to weigh 14-5.
Runner Up was Jack Stamp who drew peg 18 and caught 7 Perch and a chub for 12-9 on the stick and feeder.

Gillingham AA 5th Winter Championship. River Stour. (21 pegs) Highbridge to Catholics.
This match, the penultimate match in the series, took place on a slightly coloured river but weights were very good.
Winner on the day was Ryan Knight who drew peg 17 at Highbridge and fished the pole at 5 sections. Feeding maggots and sweetcorn Ryan caught 3 bream, 2 Chub, a Perch and some bits to weigh 16-12.
Runner up was Adie West, who drew peg 59 at Catholics, and caught 8 Chub on the Bread to weigh 15-5.
Third place went to Jason Mills who was on 14 at Highbridge and caught 6 Chub and a Perch on the maggot feeder and lob tail to weigh 14-2

Gillingham AA Christmas Match. River Stour at Deepwater and Stour Provost, (20 pegs)
Match secretary, Dave Sealey, was in two minds whether to fish the match as the river was only just in its banks, but with more rain forecast he made the decision to get it fished. As it happened most people caught fish and Gillingham Secretary, Simon Hebditch, made the most of his peg at the Steps on Rectory straight to win the match and a hamper with 3-9. Simon caught 2 Roach and a Dace on the feeder and lob tail, before switching to a pole feeder on a 5 metre whip, to catch another 7 Roach to 12ozs.
Runner Up was Pete Leach, winning a hamper, who drew Billings hole at Deepwater, and caught a skimmer and a few Roach on maggots before adding a 1lb Roach on sweetcorn to weigh 2-5.
Third was Jason Mills, who won the last hamper, drawing at lucky Dip at Stour Provost and catching 7 Roach and an eel on worms, for 2-4.

The fourth round of the winter league went ahead on a rising river and the blustery conditions hampered presentation.
Winner on the day was Dave Sealey who again drew Big Hole at Catholics and caught a few bits on the pole before fishing the lead with sweetcorn and casters to catch 5 Chub to 3lb and weigh 14-6.
Runner up was Adie West who drew peg 62 at the bottom of Marnhull and caught 5 Chub on the Bread to weigh 11-00.

The river still had plenty of pace on but fished very well with the top 5 needing double figures.
Winner on the day was match secretary Dave Sealey, who drew in Big Hole at Catholics and caught 2 Chub and some quality Roach on the pole and maggots before switching to Bread feeder to catch another 3 Chub and weigh 18-6.
Runner Up was Alan Rendall who drew peg 56, dead mans hole, and caught a couple of pounds of bits on the stick before fishing the feeder for another 6 Chub and a weight of 16-6.

The match organiser did ask the competitors if they wanted to cancel on a high and swollen River Stour but they declined and there were a few fish caught. Winner on the day was Todber Manor supremo, in form John Candy, who drew peg 14 at Highbridge, and caught 2 small Bream and big Roach on the feeder and worms to weigh 11-00.
Runner Up was Rich Fripp who drew peg 16 at Highbridge and caught a 2lb Chub and bits on the feeder to weigh 6-3.

The first round of this winter series was contested by 19 anglers on a river which had dropped rapidly over the previous 48 hours.
Winner on the day was Todber Manor supremo John Candy who drew peg 8 at Deepwater and caught 10-4 of Roach to 10oz on the crowquill and hemp and maggots to weigh 10-4.
Runner Up was Jack Stamp who drew peg 4 at Deepwater and caught 7-9 of mainly Roach on the stick and maggots.

Gillingham AA Carnival Open at Lodden Lakes (16 pegs)
The weather and other matches on the same weekend made the attendance on this match lower than usual but the club still raised £80 for the Carnival. Winner on the day was Ray Webster (Gillingham AA) who drew un-fancied peg 25 on the bottom island. Ray pole fished maggots over groundbait to catch 1 Carp and some Bream to weigh 45-11.
Runner Up was Ricky Searle (Gillingham AA) who drew peg 2 and caught a few skimmers on the feeder before catching some more on the pole and in the latter stages of the match caught 2 Carp in the margins to weigh 31-12.

The last Summer match was fished on a wet and windy autumn day! Winner on the day, and keeping up his good form on the venue, was Mark Harper who had 34-12 which consisted of Bream and skimmers on the long pole and worms and casters over groundbait and a late Tench down the edge from peg 31. Runner Up was Ricky Searle with 26-8 which consisted of 2 Carp and skimmers on the method from peg 41.

This venue was quite patchy for todays match and the canal lake gave the top 2 weights.
Jason Mills won the match catching carp on maggots on the method from the canal to weigh 70-00.
Runner up was in-form Jack Stamp who caught Carp on the method and paste to end up 6oz short of Jason on 69-10.

13 anglers fished the last Evening match at Lodden Lakes and Jack Stamp (Gillingham AA) made no mistake after drawing peg 28. Jack caught Bream down the edge on corn to weigh 24-12.
Runner up was Damian Townsend (Gillingham AA) who drew peg 1 and caught a 10lb Carp, 2 tench and some Bream on the pole and worms to weigh 22-8.

Unfortunately due to summer holidays only 5 fished this latest match fished in cooler conditions than of late, 4 juniors & 1 intermediate.
The first junior was Alfie Mills who caught 72lb 6oz from peg 11 on the method and pellet and later on in the margins.
Runner Up was Pat Bell from peg 18 with 42lb 12oz of feeder & margin caught Carp including one of 11lb 8oz.
3rd: Mirei Sasaki Evans- 25lb 8oz
4th: Joe Randall- 21lb 4oz .
The intermediates was won by Paddy Bendell with 47lb 12oz from peg 8 with some on the pole and some on the method.

Jack Stamp won the latest evening match with an impressive 65-4. With the skimmer sport slowing Jack targeted Carp on the straight lead and pellets from peg 14 and had 7 of them along with the odd skimmer.
Runner up was Mark Harper with 38-10 of Bream and skimmers from peg 32 caught on worms over groundbait.

28 anglers fished today and it was a moody Lodden with the hot weather making it really hard and 8 people didn’t weigh in.
Top weight was Rich Fripp who drew peg 14 and had 2 Carp and a few skimmers on the lead and pole to weigh 27-12.
Second was Ben Dukes with 22-13 who also caught a 6-4 grass carp and skimmers and big Bream from peg 11 on the pole at 13 metres and down the edge.

Gillingham Juniors fished their latest match on this prolific North Dorset fishery and winner of the intermediate section was Tom Carter with 111-04 from peg 81 fishing the feeder first and then fishing the pole down the edge on pellets and maggots.
Runner Up was Paddy Bendall with 53-06 of pole and pellet caught Carp at 8 metres.
In the hotly contested junior section winner was Alfie Mills with 104-04 from peg 84 who caught Carp on the method and down the edge later on on sweetcorn and pellets.
Runner Up was 9 year old Rory Lawrence, again showing his grandfather, Michael Hunt, how to catch fish! with 65-04 from peg 88 of Carp on pole at 7 metres with pellet and sweetcorn over groundbait.

This annual memorial match for Lodden founder member Jim Debnam has been going for over 25 years and is an eagerly anticipated event in the match calendar.
Winner on the day was Mark Harper who drew form peg 23 at the bottom of the lake and caught 2 Tench down the edge to 4lb, and lots of skimmers and Bream at 13 metres on the pole and worms and casters to weigh 39-8.
Runner up was Jason Mills who drew peg 3 and caught Bream and skimmers on the method feeder and then the pole to weigh 27-6.
Third was Tony West who drew unfancied peg 33 and caught 26-13 on the method feeder which included the biggest fish of the day a 17-6 Grass Carp caught on cabbage heart.

The second Junior match was fished at Lodden in very hot and bright conditions but despite this there were lots of fish caught by the 8 juniors & 2 intermediates.
Junior first was Rory Lawrence who caught 18-00 of Bream on the pole and maggots over groundbait from peg 27 and I’m sure this 9 year old will be teaching his grandfather, Michael Hunt, how to catch more fish!
Second was Pat Bell who caught 12-05 of small skimmers from peg 15 on worms and maggots down the edge.

A good turnout of 17 fished the latest evening match and though not huge weights the fish were well spread with most anglers catching double figures.
Winner on the day was Roland Lucas (Wiltshire Angling) who caught Bream and 2 Carp late down the edge on Corn over pellets from peg 28 to weigh 31-00. Runner up was Damian Townsend (Gillingham AA) who drew 15 and caught Bream at 11m towards the spit on worms and corn to weigh 28-8.

A poor turnout of 15 anglers found the outer snake at Witherington Farm in a strange mood.
Winner on the day was Kev Harvey with 100-8 of Carp to 8lb fishing the method to one of the bridge pegs with pellets on the hook.
Runner up was inform Jack Stamp who caught 48-14 of Carp fishing paste on the hook.

The venue fished quite well this week with the majority of the fish caught at the carpark end.
Winner on the day was Gillingham AA’s Jack Stamp who drew peg 3 and caught Bream and skimmers, firstly on the method and then on paste on the pole to weigh 47-00.
Runner Up was Roland Lucas (Wiltshire Angling) who was an agonizing 4 ounces short with 46-12 from peg 1, catching 2 Carp and Bream on the pole and dead maggots to weigh 46-12.

A cracking turnout of 15 juniors, some experienced and some trying matchfishing for the first time, took to the rainy and windy ‘2 Counties’ Lake at Mere but all caught some fish and enjoyed themselves.
Winner of the intermediates was Tom Carter with 34-12, who drew peg 20, and who caught a dozen carp on the pole and the method feeder, with Paddy Bendall in runners up spot with 2 Carp for 4-00.
Winner of the juniors was Alfie Mills who drew peg 9 and caught 10 F1s and a couple of carp on the method and maggots to weigh 25-4.
Runner up was Rose Carter who caught a couple of small Carp early before going down the edge and catching another 2 Carp, one of which was 9-7, to weigh 21-4.

Winner of Lodden Lakes was Mark Harper who drew peg 33 and caught an all Bream weight of 66-14. Mark caught on the pole and worms and casters.
Runner Up was Ken Murchie who drew peg 35 and had 1 Tench and a lot of Bream and skimmers on the pole and worms & sweetcorn over groundbait and casters to weigh 58-14.
