RIVER STOUR COMMON MEAD LANE/CHANTRY
Brief description of fishery:
The Chantry section of the River Stour starts at Watersmeet behind Waitrose in Gillingham. This section is controlled by Gillingham Town Council. The section has some hard gravel platforms suitable for wheelchair users. This section is the narrowest but it is home to plenty of Chub, Roach, Bream, Perch and the occasional Carp and Trout.
The Common Mead Lane section stars at the end of Chantry. It is seldom match fished nowadays due to limited parking and the stretch lending itself to a roving approach. Relatively few swims are available in this stretch but it is home to decent Chub, Dace, Roach and Grayling. Roving with float fished magots work well as does ledgered bread flake.
